Chapter 16
A Rainy Day In Dubai
"Why are you here" said a whispering sound. It was completely dark all around. Nothing was visible.
"Stay away" said the whispering sound again.
The voice started to come closer and started to become loud as it approached. The whispers turned into a loud deep roaring voice "Stayyyyy Awayyyyyy".
With a panic attack Lily opened her eyes in a flash, sweating and shaking. Her heart was pounding. She was breathing very fast. She looked around her room. It was morning. She kept lying on her bed. She kept breathing for few minutes until her breath came back to normal.

She woke up and started looking out of her window. It was raining outside. Clouds were roaring loudly, the sound that woke up Lily. The street outside her house, which was running parallel to her window, was wet and looked so clean. The trees and flowers looked so fresh. All the houses across the street were wet. A man was walking down the street with a black and blue umbrella.
The beautiful view outside her window completely relaxed Lily and she forgot about the nightmare she had. She opened the window and a cool breeze hit her morning fresh face. She closed her eyes to feel the air.

"Lily! Lilyyyy" calling her name, her mom, Susan, entered her room.
Lily turned her face back from the window and looked at her mom.
"Good news for you. It's school's holiday today" said Susan.
"How come mom? Its not weekend yet" said Lily.
"Its been raining since night. Streets are all clogged with water. So the schools declared holiday for today." said Susan
"That's great" said Lily jumping out of her bed "I will go play with Veer and Monira in the park"
"You can't go to the park" said Susan.
"But why" said Lily with a sad look on her face.
"Because it's all under the water now. But you can start preparing for our trip next week to granny's house in Georgia. Prepare the list of all the items that you want to buy, we will go the Mall of Emirates this weekend and finish it all." said Susan.
"OK mom" said Lily in a low voice, overthinking on how she will meet Dijinn along with her friends now.
"Do you want to go to the beach, if the rain stops? Your dad has taken leave today due to the weather." said Susan.
"Beach" screamed excited Lily. "Of-course mom. Let's go. I will get ready quickly"
"Great I will get your little brother ready as well." said Susan and left the room to get to Alexei, younger brother of Lily.
Sane family went to the Jumeirah beach, when rain stopped. There were very few people on the beach. Never had Lily seen such a deserted beach before. She started running around in the sand. They found a spot for themselves on the sand to sit. Lily and Alexei started playing in the sand with their sand toys.
They started making sand castle. As soon as Lily made a sand structure, a wave came gushing and destroyed her castle. Alexei started laughing. His laughter was so sweet and contagious that everyone started laughing.
Lily shifted back her spot to maintain a good distance with the wave and started building another castle. This time again, when the structure started taking some shape, the wave destroyed it yet again making Alexei laugh.
Lily shifted her spot and reached a spot where she was sure that the wave wouldn't come. But yet again, the wave destroyed it.
Mike immediately took his family and went back several steps thinking its the high tide day.
"May be it wasn't a good idea to come to the beach today" said Mike to Susan.
"Don't overthink. Just enjoy the weather" replied Susan and started clicking family pictures.
Lily stated to take a walk around the beach. She went closer to the waves and started observing waves reaching her foot. As she was enjoying, one of the wave took her with surprise when she saw that the wave left her a text engraved in the sand.
"Stay Away Lily"
"Dijinn is that you?" said Lily "Listen, I can't meet you at the park today. Hello! Are you listening"
No one replied back to her.
"Dijinn." she called again "Is that you?"
No one replied again. A wave came and touched her feet. She got scared and started going back towards her family. As she was walking, she immediately stopped when she saw something written on the sand.
"Stay Away From Dijinn"
She started running towards her family. While running she remembered her dream which scared her even more. She went and hugged her father.
While hugging her father, she saw a life guard coming towards them.
"Sir today is not the weather to be around the sea. Tides are very high. And we are expecting heavy rain. I suggest that you go back" said the lifeguard.
Lily looked at the face of lifeguard. It was Dijinn.
"Mam I saw you running very fast. I hope everything is fine with you." said Dijinn to Lily.
Lily kept staring at him without saying a word.
"Don't worry I am your lifeguard and nothing will happen to you. Take care. Go home. Play with your friends " Dijinn said these final words and left.
Sane family left the beach to go for home. But it wasn't an easy drive. They got stuck in traffic. They had never seen such a traffic in their entire stay in Dubai till date. An hour turned into two to three to four. But they were hardly any closer to their home.
Lily kept looking at her watch, realizing that she won't be able to make it to the park today.
By the time they reached home, Lily and Alexei had already slept in the car. Mike took Lily in his arms and put her in her bed. As soon as he put her down, she woke up. Holding the arm of her father she said "Dad, can I sleep with you and mom tonight. I don't know why, but, I am really scared"
